Jonah Hess

Senior Vice President, Director of Community Initiatives, Inc.

Jonah joined CIC in 2016. He is the Director of Community Initiatives, Inc. (CII), a subsidiary of CIC. In this role, Jonah is responsible for the organization’s service contracts and programs, including the Troubled Buildings Initiative, as well as the direct acquisition and disposition of real estate. His work combines community development and direct real estate interventions, with the goal of helping communities preserve and improve the quality of rental housing. He has been in the field for 14 years.

Prior to joining CIC, Jonah worked at Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago (NHS) as the Director of their Redevelopment Corporation. In his role at NHS, Jonah oversaw the organization’s redevelopment projects, rental portfolio, service contracts and programs, and real estate brokerage. Jonah also worked as the Senior Acquisitions Manager for Mercy Portfolio Services, where he worked on the City of Chicago’s $168 million dollar Neighborhood Stabilization Program. Prior to that, Jonah worked at the City of Chicago Department of Housing as Coordinator of Special Projects in the Housing Preservation Division.

Although he is a Chicago native, Jonah attended Indiana University, where he received a Bachelor’s of Science in Public Policy Studies.
