Dennis Jenkins

Dennis Jenkins is a lifelong, 47-year resident of the North Lawndale community. During this period, he has watched this once beautiful area suffer from decline and disinvestments. The empty, six-unit building he acquired was a testament to the problems that plagued the community. Vacant and abandoned, this property was frequented by criminals, deteriorating not only the building, but also properties around it.

With 90% financing through CIC’s Flex Fund Program, and additional funds from Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago, Jenkins was able to complete a gut rehab of the property, contributing to the turn around of the North Lawndale community.
